A Hit Or A Miss?

As I grow older, and I keep trying things - many times, the same thing over and over and over again till a point of exhaustion, boredom and mindless function - it gets clearer to me that it is rarely a hit, but a miss multiple times over. What life truly is - is a string of misses until a few hit home. What matters more on those days when nothing seems to move is to continue to try and hit it.
Roger Federer in one of his most famous speeches mentioned that his "hit" ratio throughout his career was probably 50%. The legendary tennis player and winner of numerous grand slams, record breaker and the greatest of all time (GOAT) saying that his statistics were around 50% hits should suggest to all perfectionists that on a regular day out there, they are aiming to be a 'hit' at twice the efficiency levels of the greatest of all time. If that is not a lot of pressure to live with, I don't know what is.
I think it is worthy to note now that people rarely judge you basis one performance. Imagine if we only got just one time to perform throughout our lives on something that we have spent hours trying to perfect. That would be like judging Michael Jackson for a missed dance step, or Virat Kohli for a duck, or for judging Leo Di Caprio's entire career basis one wrong expression in a scene.
We put too much pressures on ourselves. As a former perfectionist who is trying hard to mend his ways, I do want to say that imperfectionism, wabi sabi, and the art of being good enough is the way to go. Not everything that we do is going to be a hit, and not everything that we do is going to be a miss. However, it is OUR responsibility to try and increase the probability of the hits - the only way to do that is to try and try again, no matter how the previous attempt went.
It will be a hit or a miss, but it is only an option if we try. Without an attempt, there is no option.
